Wild Valley ~ Pressed Flower Landscape
Share
Every summer, the hillsides across Nova Scotia come alive with colour. Roadsides fill with lupines, wildflowers sway in the ocean breeze, and living here in the Annapolis Valley feels almost nostalgic. I often crave a time that was simpler, full of adventure and togetherness. This new piece is a little reminder of the beautiful place I've called home for the last 40 years.

Wild Valley Landscape is created with a collection of locally foraged and slowly pressed florals. This piece captures the rolling hills and wild beauty of an East Coast summer. Each flower is hand-pressed and thoughtfully arranged to create a landscape filled with texture, depth, and natural colour.
Landscapes have been a new challenge for me. This piece went through a few different transitions before becoming the artwork I'm sharing with you today. One of my favourite parts of creating with flowers is seeing a bloom, petal, or leaf transform into something entirely new. Fern leaves become trees, blue delphinium creates water, delicate petals transform into clouds in the sky, and wildflowers come together to tell a story of a place that feels like home.

The handcrafted barn board frame was the finishing touch. Its natural character complements the organic materials and reflects the rustic beauty of the valleys that inspired the piece.
I hope this artwork brings back memories of summer road trips, evenings spent watching the sunset, and those slow moments when soaking in the scenery calms your nervous system.
