Planning Your Wedding Bouquet For Pressing

Planning Your Wedding Bouquet For Pressing

Planning your wedding bouquet is an important part of your special day. It’s the finishing touch that ties your entire wedding look together. There are several things to consider when planning your wedding bouquet especially if you wish to have it preserved as a keepsake. The colours and flowers you choose will determine the final results.

Let's chat about the colours & flowers that press best!

Neutral Palettes

Neutral bouquet colour palettes press beautifully! (although when I first started pressing I lost a lot of sleep worried about them turning brown). White, cream and blush roses, peonies, ranunculus, zinnias, carnations, delphinium, statice and stock are great staples and personal 'neutral' favourites for pressing. Having some great greenery like eucalyptus to anchor your piece is key here for that pop of colour. While lisianthus flowers are a very popular and romantic wedding flower,  they are not my favourite once dried and often end up with brown spots. I've personally spent a lot of time over the last few years finding ways to get the best results so if your bouquet features these princess blooms don't worry.

Colour

Vibrant spring and summer flowers like purple, pinks, peach, yellow or blues are a dream to work with. Your final pressed bouquet will absolutely look incredible but you should know that each flower (type and colour) presses in it's own unique way and will most likely soften or fade during the drying process and continue to over time. Having fresh flowers is key to keeping the colour vibrant after the petals are dried and we always press as much of your bouquet as possible to ensure we can use the best of the best in your final framed piece.

Zinnias, ranunculus, delphinium, stock, peonies, roses are great colourful choices that always press amazing and hold great colour, so if you want a final art piece that stands out, don't be afraid to go bold!

Locally Grown

Let's chat LOCAL! The dream boat of wedding bouquets here on the East Coast! I realize 'local' isn't a colour scheme and not always available depending on when you plan to tie the knot. But I believe it is a true vibe, and a magical one to say the least. We have so many incredible flower growers right here in our own backyard and if I can be completely honest, when a bouquet full of locally grown blooms shows up at my doorstep my heart swoons. There is something extraordinary about a bouquet made literally from seed with all the love and attention. All the colourful fresh flowers and textures will be sure to make a show stopping pressed artwork to enjoy for years to come, no matter what palette you choose.

Which style is your favourite?

When deciding on a florist, colours, flowers, and style of your bouquet, of course you need to consider your overall wedding theme, the symbolism of each flower, and your personal style, but if you do plan on pressing or preserving your flowers I hope this helps with some final planning and decisions for a beautiful memorable keepsake of your special day.
